RESUMO:

This work is the result of research on language revitalization. carried out with children from the Balatipone people, students from multi-grade classes – third, fourth and fifth years of primary education at the Jula Pare Indigenous Municipal School, centered in the Umutina village, in the municipality of Barra dos Bugres - M.T. The work was developed in stages and divided into two chapters. The first chapter contains bibliographical information and oral tradition sources about the first information about the existence of the Balatiponé people, about their myths of origin and beliefs, about language, territory, location and population. There is information about traumatic events experienced by the Balatipone in the early days of peaceful contact between them and non-indigenous people, which caused irreversible losses such as physical death and the annihilation of the Balatipone language and culture, as well as the historical process of school education in the Umutina village and the consequences in the transmission of ancestral knowledge. An important highlight is also presented regarding the role of Professor Balatipone, his dilemmas and his perspectives as an educator. In the second chapter, the teaching proposal is presented as it was idealized, planned, organized and how the actions were carried out. In order for the results of this research to be achieved, playful activities were used, taking as a starting point a traditional game of the Balatipone people, called Xiripa, which served as a strategy and didactic resource for teaching the Balatipone language. It is worth highlighting that the activities proposed in this work provided very satisfactory results, both in the classroom, through diverse activities that were produced by the students, and outside, in the continuity of the game and its dissemination among the other children in the village, especially through use of words and phrases that children expressed during play.
