LITERACY PROCESSES IN THE MOTHER TONGUE

ABSTRACT
This research reflects on the teaching of the Kawaiwete language in literacy. The objective is to understand the literacy process in the mother tongue and describe how it occurs in the classroom. The research methodology is an oral, descriptive, and participatory qualitative approach. It is being carried out in the village of Tatuí, in the municipality of Juara-MT, with students and teachers from the community. The question is to know what is the importance of the mother tongue for the Kawaiwete people? In particular, how are children learning their mother tongue at the beginning of literacy? According to the research, elders are important in contributing to the mother tongue in school.
