safflower; genetical enhancement; genotype selection.
PÁGINAS: 10
GRANDE ÁREA: Ciências Agrárias
ÁREA: Agronomia
RESUMO:
The safflower crop is important among oilseeds, occupying the eighth position among the oil-producing species,
being cultivated in more than 60 countries. In Brazil, safflower was recently introduced by the Instituto
Mato-grossense do Algodão, where, together with some public institutions, they study oilseeds for cultivation in
the off-season, and safflower has been identified as the crop with the greatest potential due to its easy adaptation
to the cropping system. crop already used for corn and soybeans. As with other crops, genetic improvement
is a tool for increasing safflower productivity, or selecting a genotype that expresses characteristics of interest.
Therefore, the objective of this work is to evaluate the agronomic performance of safflower genotypes, based on
their characteristics. The experiment will be conducted at the Laboratory of Genetic Resources & Biotechnology-
UNEMAT, in Cáceres-MT, evaluating 30 safflower genotypes, belonging to the UNEMAT working collection, which
will be submitted to analysis of variance, Skott mean cluster test and Knott. The genetic divergence between the
previously selected genotypes will be performed using multivariate analysis, based on the generalized
Mahalanobis distance, making it possible to identify the most contrasting individuals. The selection of superior
genotypes that will be considered parents of the crop improvement program will be carried out using the
Mulamba and Mock selection index. This study is expected to identify the most promising genotypes for use in
the UNEMAT safflower breeding program, in addition to providing information to initiate a performance-oriented
crossbreeding scheme with the best genotypes, continuing the stages of the safflower breeding program.
