LANGUAGE ATTITUDES: an analysis of Sinopeans in contact with Haitian immigrants in Sinop-MT

This research aims to compare the linguistic attitudes of Brazilians residing in Sinop-MT who lived with Haitian immigrants for, with the Portuguese practiced by Haitian immigrants whose official languages are Hai Creole and French. Intuitive, also, to identify if the Brazilian subjects cultivate positive or negative attitudes and beliefs towards them, valuing or not one of the languages in the same proportion of the other, as well as investigating the causes for this. Supported by the studies of William Labov, preceptor of Variationist Sociolinguistics, Tânia Alkimim and Marcos Bagno, Brazilians who address the main concepts that govern this theory, Wallace Lambert, for being the most recognized pioneer in terms of research in attitudes, in addition to other researchers from area of sociolinguistics. The method chosen for data collection is divided into two parts: interview with semi-structured questions and an attitude measurement questionnaire based on the Likert Scale. Individual interviews will be conducted with two Haitian immigrants to collect speeches in French and Creole languages, in addition to the application of a questionnaire and interview, with twenty Brazilian people residing in Sinop-MT and having had frequent contact with Haitian immigrants for at least three months. . Taking into account sex and education in comparative analyzes.
