HALITI-PARESI STORIES AS TEACHING AIDS FOR MOTHER TONGUE TEACHI
Haliti mother tongue. Teaching. Narratives. Traditional Knowledge
In this work, I present four illustrated Haliti-Paresi stories, as a proposal for pedagogical support material for the initial years of our indigenous schools, with a focus on our mother tongue. These stories were told in the Haliti language by the elders of our village, in storytelling circles for the children, in the late afternoon of some weekdays, during the summer of April 2024. The written record of these narratives, in the Haliti language, was made by me, together with teacher Ângelo Kezomae, after this first oral practice. The stories were illustrated by one of the school's students, under my guidance. The idea of developing this work, bringing some of our stories as didactic support material for teaching mother tongue in the early years, is because we Haliti teachers are very concerned about mother tongue in our community, remembering that we are in a globalized world, so our role is fundamental in this teaching and learning process.With this in mind, we need to propose and plan our own activities, produce our own specific teaching materials so that children value their first language, so that they feel comfortable expressing themselves in their own language, both orally and in writing, which will strengthen the language and keep it alive among us. Furthermore, listening and dialog between our traditional education and school education is fundamental because it is a way of strengthening our traditional knowledge, since school is a great ally for us in this process.
