RESUMO:

The health of quilombola communities in Brazil is the subject of growing interest due to the challenges faced by these populations in relation to sanitary and socio-economic conditions. Among the public health challenges facing these communities, enteroparasitosis has been a significant concern, given its prevalence
and impact on quality of life. In this context, this research aims to investigate in detail the regional prevalence of enteroparasitosis in Brazilian quilombola communities. Through a systematic review and meta-analysis approach, this study explores the diversity of parasites identified and their relationship with the specific socio-
environmental conditions of these communities. The three manuscripts that make up this thesis seek to deepen our understanding of this complex topic and offer valuable insights to guide health policies and actions aimed at these historically marginalized populations. The first manuscript carries out a careful analysis of selected studies, with the aim of determining the regional prevalence of different types of enteroparasitosis in these communities. Using databases such as LILACS, SCIELO, IBECS, BDENF and MEDLINE, focusing on publications from 2020 onwards and using the descriptors; intestinal parasitosis; and quilombolas, marked differences
were observed between the Northeast and Southeast regions in terms of prevalence. Bahia and Minas Gerais emerged as states with significant representation in the studies analyzed, each accounting for approximately 17% of the total. The second manuscript focuses on the relationship between the prevalence of  enteroparasitosis and the socio-environmental factors present in these communities. Through a systematic and meta-analytical approach, the study examines how inadequate access to treated water and poor sanitation conditions influence the spread of these parasites. The results revealed a significant correlation between the prevalence of enteroparasitoses and these factors, highlighting the importance of comprehensive interventions to improve living conditions in these communities. Finally, the third manuscript analyzes trends in the prevalence and distribution of helminths and protozoa in quilombola communities, using an integrative literature review. Significant variations in the distribution of these enteroparasitoses were observed between the units of the federation, indicating the need for specific strategies for the management and prevention of these diseases in different regional contexts. This set of studies represents an important contribution to the understanding of enteroparasitosis in quilombola communities in Brazil, providing solid evidence that can guide public health policies and practices aimed at reducing the incidence of these diseases and improving the quality of life of these populations.
