RESUMO:

The diagnosis of the Water Production System in Goiânia, Goiás, reveals a worrying reality regarding the city's water security. During the dry period, the region faces situations of water insecurity, which directly affects the population's quality of life. Furthermore, disorderly growth and social inequalities contribute to aggravating the situation. The study by Lino (2013) highlights the trend of disordered growth in the region, which may be overlapping with the protection areas of water-producing sources. This can generate a series of environmental impacts, including reducing the availability of drinking water. To face this reality, an accurate diagnosis and the implementation of measures aimed at guaranteeing water security in the region are necessary, such as adequate management of water resources, the adoption of sustainable practices in the use of water and the promotion of public policies that combat social differences. It is important to highlight that water security is not a problem exclusive to Goiânia, but rather an issue that affects several cities around the world. Therefore, it is essential that sustainable and efficient solutions are implemented for the management of water resources, aiming to guarantee access to drinking water for present and future generations.
