The municipality of Várzea Grande, located in the state of Mato Grosso, is experiencing a chronic problem of lack of water and its population has been suffering from this problem for decades. On the other hand, the use of rainwater in many countries and in Brazilian states has been gaining strength as it presents a positive alternative for regions with water scarcity, since in most cases the treatment becomes simple if there is no type of  atmospheric contaminants difficult to be removed by filtration and chlorination systems for human consumption. For this reason, the proposed objective is to complement the water supply of the neighborhood with the reuse of rainwater. Thus, among the various districts supplied in Várzea Grande, the chosen one was Vila Operária, a small community with three hundred and sixty-four consumer units. In turn, studies were carried out with the aim of understanding the water supply in the region, and the tool used for statistical collection was the Mann Kendall, whose results were satisfactory, 1491.46 mm/year. Admittedly, this series presented a homogeneous procedure without variations for a period of 30 years. However, for the calculation, a period of only 10 years was considered. It is worth remembering that after this study two scenarios were worked on, the first was the Municipal School Prof. Antônio Salustio Areias close to the neighborhood, which favored the choice was the coverage of the multi-sports court, due to its large extension (1,174.47 m2), thus, the abstraction of water only from this point, would supply the three hundred and sixty-four houses of the neighborhood, due to the large volume of water captured. The second scenario was to capture water from houses individually, with the effect of knowing the actual volume captured from each residence. Ultimately, in both cases, the residents of the neighborhood would not be fully served, in terms of volume, in periods that are not very rainy, as is presented in NBR-15257-2019, in its formula for dimensioning the volume in reserve, in fact, the area is a determining parameter to obtain, or not, the volume of water. For all this, in units above 85 m², with those smaller than 51.02 m², the volume recommended in NBR-5626, which establishes a minimum volume of 1 m³/liter/per family, would not be achieved, thus only the larger residences with an area of 199.81 m², it would be serviced every month. In this step, another point discovered was the economic feasibility study, which reached high values for a community without great resources. On the other hand, the state presents laws nº 9.674/2011, and nº 10.799/2019, which direct resources to capture rainwater for less favored families; thus being a positive parameter for the neighborhood. Still on this track, the jurisdiction is placed, which the municipality has a municipal sanitation plan, which is exposed in law no. for public supply purposes. For this reason, through these mechanisms, incentives are established for citizens through IPTU rates and water bills for citizens who choose this type of supply.
