The municipality of Várzea Grande in the state of Mato Grosso has a chronic water supply problem that affects many neighborhoods. The capture, storage and reuse of rainwater emerges as an alternative to face the problems related to the lack of drinking water supply. The objective of this work is to generate a technical report on the feasibility of using rainwater as a complementary source in the water supply of the municipality of Várzea Grande - MT. In order to fulfill the proposed objective, a bibliographical survey of municipal and state laws on the capture, storage and treatment of rainwater was carried out in order to generate a report on public policies, then the rainfall index of the municipality of Várzea was verified. Grande, and finally a flowchart is presented, containing the actions that may guide the management policy for the reuse of rainwater in the municipality of Várzea Grande. In the bibliographic survey of laws for the reuse of rainwater, it was observed that the State of Mato Grosso already has legal support through Law No. and Law No. 10,799, of January 9, 2019, which establishes that public buildings must adopt measures for the conservation and reuse of water from alternative sources. It was found that the rainfall index was an average of 1491.60 mm/year, and it was not found, through statistical tests, an increase or decrease in the rainfall index. This rainfall index value is more than enough to provide cisterns with storage capacity for large volumes. This project identified that the public power of the municipality of Várzea Grande can adopt a hybrid action with incentives, through lines of credit, so that citizens can build their own rainwater collection and storage system, and in neighborhoods that have public buildings the catchment system may be similar to that of a Water Treatment Station, where the collected rainwater will be treated and stored in suspended reservoirs, thus making a wider distribution. It is concluded that the use of rainwater as a supplement in the supply of drinking water in the municipality of Várzea Grande is feasible because the necessary tools for such a project are already available, leaving the public power to develop a municipal project of policies for the management of water resources , and logistical studies for the implementation and connection of the distribution network.
