Characterization of Water and Land Use and Occupancy in the Riacho Bujuizinho Watershed in the Urban Zone of Nova Mutum/MT – Brazil.
Urban stream; City growth; Industrialization.
Urban streams have been experiencing major changes with the accelerated growth process of cities. As alterations to these water bodies, the inefficiency in the basic sanitation systems of rainwater stands out. The industrialization process is another aggravating factor for its deterioration, as well as the occupation of its banks which, when not obeying the legal limits of APPs, can lead to the rapid silting of its banks, alterations in its bed and even the grounding of parts of its course giving way to urban infrastructure. In view of this analysis, it is assumed that the areas of APPs are being taken over by buildings. Given this hypothesis, what is the impact that the growth of the city has been causing in its areas of permanent preservation of the watershed of the Bujuizinho stream? From this problem, the objective is to analyze the process of land use and occupation in the watershed of the Bujuizinho stream in the urban area of Nova Mutum/MT - Brazil. This work will be based on bibliographic research, cartographic survey and remote sensing from satellite images of the last 30 years to determine its urbanization dynamics. Subsequently, the springs will be identified through morphometric characterization. Subsequently, the Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) around the water body will be delimited to assess whether urbanization is invading these areas.
