RESUMO:

According to the 2017 Dam Safety Report, in Brazil there are 24,092 structures registered as dams, 76% of which do not have enough information under the National Dam Safety Policy. The State of Minas Gerais is responsible for approximately 44% of all the value that is generated by the exploration of the mineral activity. The rupture of the Brumadinho Dam occurred on January 25, 2019, causing one of the greatest crimes of impact on the environment with mining waste, affecting not only the areas of dense vegetation but also the main river of the municipality, the Paraopebas. Thus, the objective of this work is to identify and analyze the spatiality of the impacted area, due to the factors that caused the disaster of the rupture of the tailings dam at the Brumadinho (MG) mine along the Paraopeba River, through the remote sensing. A bibliographic review will be carried out regarding consultation with academic databases. The data from Orbital Images of medium spatial resolution will be processed using the Landsat 8 (OLI) and Sentinel-2 (MSI) platform, in addition to this, computational tools will be used through the QGis software, for data synthesis and production. The variables that will constitute the analyzes related to the quality of the water in this work will be: Chlorophyll-a, Turbidity and Total Solids in Suspension. A comparison of the area will be carried out between the periods from 2018 to 2019, to analyze the images of before and after the tragedy caused. After selecting the mapped points, the concentration values will be checked and tabulated, in order to obtain the variation of the degree (low / medium / high) of the concentration points in limnological regions of the hydrographic basin of the Paraopeba River.
