RESUMO:

Irrigation is a technology that allows greater agricultural productivity, as it maintains the stability of production, regardless of climatic fluctuations, however the activity is the largest user of water in Brazil, being a priority for policies of control and rational use of water resources. The Alto Teles Pires sub-basin region has an essentially agricultural economy, is known for its high productivity and mechanized production, representing 1/3 of the production of soybeans and corn in the state of Mato Grosso. The region has, for the most part, soil suitable for agriculture, as well as a little rugged relief and easy flow of production due to the proximity of BR 163 and BR 364, the main grain transportation routes to Brazilian ports. The availability of water in both quantitative and qualitative terms directly affects the activity of agriculture, and consequently the economy of cities. In order to subsidize the process of granting the right to use, it is essential to have knowledge of water availability, as well as variations in quantity along the hydrographic basin and the most expressive uses. For use in irrigation, in addition to water availability, it is important to consider the quality of the water, and the poor quality can make the activity unfeasible because the excess of some ions and particles can cause damage to the water application systems and to irrigated crop. In this context, the objective of this work is to analyze the physical-chemical variables and microbiologies related to the quality of the water used in irrigation, divided into the Salinity criteria (Hydrogenionic Potential, Alkalinity, Hardness, Total Solids, Electrical Conductivity, Sulphates, Chlorides, Nitrates, Potassium ), Sodicity (Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, and RAS Sodium Adsorption Ratio), Toxicity (Boron, Iron and Manganese) and microbiological (Total Coliforms and Escherichia coli). The samples will be collected at eight collection points distributed in the Alto Teles Pires sub-basin, during the rainy and dry periods. An overview of water quality for use in irrigation is of fundamental importance, considering that it is an activity with the potential to expand in the region of study and a significant consumer of water resources, and at the same time, it can generate conflicts with other users of the basin, due to the quantity used, as well as directly suffering the impacts of misuse resulting from anthropic changes that occur in the region that negatively affect the water quality of the springs.
