RESUMO:

Flooding in an urban environment commonly occurs as a result of one or more associated factors, among them, the high level of waterproofing of the soil surface, the low level of the ground and the deficiency of the drainage system, either due to the obstruction of the system or badly dimensioning for heavy rains (longer return time -TR).

In cities, flooding acts as a negative impact on the lives of residents and passers-by who are unable to move normally during the phenomenon of heavy rains, coexisting with the risk of contagion by infectious diseases and toxic compounds through direct or indirect contact with water. contaminated trapped in the track. Existing in the most serious cases the occurrence of potential human losses in addition to material goods.

This research brings as a structural alternative the use of infiltration wells to mitigate flooding, which are associated in parallel with the public rainwater drainage system, promoting the return of the water resource to the water table through the infiltration, free of external pollutants. In this way, tests were developed to create a reduced model of filtration system that allows the retention of contaminants and water infiltration in the soil.

To determine the effectiveness of the proposed system, samples of runoff water were collected for laboratory testing during precipitation and sediment from the road in a delimited region within the city of Cuiabá-MT, respectively for the determination of microbiological and heavy metal contamination. With these samples, successive filtration tests will be carried out to ensure that the concentration of pollutants present in the water presents acceptable levels for its return to the environment.

The filtration system of the infiltration well can be divided into three stages, the first of physical order subdivided into two parts, by density and mechanics, the second and third stages being respectively with chemical and biological retention. The materials used in the filtration layers will be analyzed using criteria such as accessibility and efficiency of pollutant retention, saturation, durability and infiltration time.

Subsequently to the one analyzed, the ideal filter model will be defined, corresponding to the layer of the materials in the minimum quantities or minimum thickness for a satisfactory filtration in the quality of the water returned to the subsoil, allowing the amount of contaminants to be within the concentration limits considered safe, as is described in CONAMA Resolution nº. 396 of April 7, 2008. According to the results of analysis of samples collected in the field, some locations for the implantation of the infiltration well may be limited.
