RESUMO:

The majority of cities appear and evolve the margins of water courses, as these supply several demands, such as domestic needs, transportation, economic, cultural activities and other uses, which promote changes in urban water courses, changing their morphology and forms originals. Expansion situations and needs end up leaving the water courses in the background, in such a way that, before a structuring element, now barely integrates the environmental plan. Many of these water courses are treated as limiting urban growth, they are targets for pollution, garbage dumping and irregular occupation of their banks. The need to verify these situations and reintegrate the urban watercourses in the everyday landscape of the city are preeminent, resuming and strengthening the human relationship with water. The Arareau River, in the city of Rondonópolis-MT is an important contributor to the Rio Vermelho, which integrates the Paraguay Basin. Due to its geographic location and economy predominantly based on agribusiness, the city of Rondonópolis has a high rate of immigration and population emigration, causing disorderly growth of the city and consequently not guaranteeing the adequate use of the available natural resources, among them the preservation of courses urban water. In this context, the objective of the work is to analyze the changes in the urban stretch of the river between the years 1988 and 2018, verifying the influences on the water quality of the Arareau river. The collected data will subsidize actions to recover rivers and urban stretches, interfering in the life of society as a whole. To retake access to these natural resources is to allow the population to revive the culture that is in the collective memory of the population, reaffirming the need to create, expand and apply actions that minimize these impacts. Identifying the anthropic impacts on the urban section of the Arareau River and proposing a water framework is something fundamental for the municipality, enabling the presentation of a proposal for intervention in the urban section in accordance with the identification of priority uses.
