RESUMO:

The research aimed to analyze the media discourses on transvestites and transsexuals in the Mato Grosso Amazon region, in order to understand how the conditions of production and disputes of meaning that operate on the marginalization of this social group. The research is situated in the French Discourse Analysis, with emphasis on the concepts of discourse, meaning, discursive constructions and silencing. The proposed methodology is an analysis of texts published in news websites of the region between the years 2017 and 2021. The texts are selected from the search with the descriptors "transvestite" and "transsexuals", and then investigated their meanings considering the relations, with the discursive constructions identified in the bibliography on the subject.
