RESUMO:

The present research deals with the online language used in communicative practices in virtual social networks, as a process of language evolution, thus, one of the linguistic variations of our language. Thus, this study is justified by the search for the understanding of online language, in the light of Educational Sociolinguistics. Its origin emerged from the concern of knowing how Internetese is seen by teachers and students in the classroom. In order to reflect on the use of this virtual modality in the school context, the research proposes to analyze how online language is treated in the educational environment, especially in Portuguese classes, and whether students and teachers perceive Internetese as a linguistic variation. To this end, the research is being carried out based on sociolinguistic assumptions found in studies by Bortoni-Ricardo (2019, 2004, 2005) and Bagno (2015; 2009; 2007), on the bias of digital technologies, in Barton, Lee (2015). ) and Recuero (2014), and based on the concepts of Amaral (2020) and Cândido (2010), for the discussion on the concepts of rural space. In this sense, the execution of the present study took place, in addition to the bibliographic research, through a field research. The method used was qualitative research, with a participatory research approach and interpretive analysis. Data collection was carried out with the support of interviews, poll, discussion with the aim of promoting reflections on the proposed theme and the elaboration of a glossary with terms used on the Web by students. With the initial data of the research, it was obtained that the students recognize that the use of internetese should be restricted only to the virtual space, especially because it is not effectively worked on online language as a linguistic variation in the school environment.
