RESUMO:

This research presents the analysis of listening people participating in an extension course entitled "Deafness and the use of Assistive Technologies for the Deaf - theoretical-methodological training", which took place in the second half of 2020. This course is part of a social insertion project linked to the PPGLetras of UNEMAT/Sinop, and its organization took place in 4 thematic subjects, however, for this work only thematic 4 is analyzed. In the respective thematic, the HandTalk, VLibras and ProDeaf applications were presented and used, both translators from Portuguese, oral and written, to Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), so that their operational specificities are described as inclusive mediators of communication processes. In this perspective, the study is composed of theoretical questions that discuss hearing loss (DIZEU & CAPORALI, 2005; AZEREDO, 2006; among others) and assistive technology (GALVÃO FILHO & DAMASCENO, 2002; BERSCH, 2013; Digital Literacy (COSCARELLI), 2016 to name a few). The analysis of the listening participants allowed, so far, to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the applications. The results also revealed the inclusive potential of the analyzed tools, in the school and social spheres, in aspects such as: interaction, vocabulary expansion, identity constitution and autonomy of the deaf subject
