RESUMO:

With the increasing presence of multimodal texts in today's society, the teaching of reading, analysis and production of these texts has become essential in Portuguese language classes. As a result, new teaching strategies are needed to meet changes in contemporary society that go beyond the alphabetic writing system. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using comic strips as a pedagogical resource to promote the development of reading and writing in the 6th year of Elementary School Final Years. The research aims to promote student literacy, through a didactic sequence anchored in the principles of Dolz, Noverraz and Schneuwly, (2004) which suggest a set of activities whose goal is to improve reading, writing and the results of internal assessments and external of the 6th year of Elementary School Final Years of the Dr. Guilherme Freitas de Abreu Lima State School, with regard to the approach of the textual genre Comic Books (Comics), with emphasis on Comics. The nature of the research is qualitative, with data analysis in an interpretative way, and is based on the precepts of Thiollent's action research.
