RESUMO:

This research focuses on the study of the characteristics of contemporary modern narrative, focusing on the configuration and position of the narrator and how the action takes place in the novel from the reading and analysis of the works Alegria (2018) by Eduardo Mahon and A peste ( 1947) by Albert Camus. We will discuss and reflect on the historical literary reformulations with special attention to modern ruptures regarding the narrator and his configuration as a solitary subject, discussing, on the one hand, the concept itself, and on the other, and its eminent relationship with the contemporary of other. We will go over the contemporary wonders of the novel, specifically the narrator and his position in the narrative as a way to understand this lonely, subjective subject, who does not fit in, isolates himself, failing to establish affective, cultural and social bonds.
These questionings of the present time that contemporary literature has presented in recent decades with fascinating and credible narratives, lead us to think about how the indelible presence of loneliness, fear, hopelessness, anguish and death plagues our days, leading us to a need to analyze and reflect on the complexity of the contemporary experience in the literary world, more specifically in the novel, starting from experiments and aesthetic and technological innovations, mixing the real and the imaginary, understanding the oneiric universe, breaking paradigms, inserting different styles marked by several trends, which open space for other literary productions in the sense of demystifying and justifying the relationship that has existed for a long time between life, history, literature and narratives of themes that have gone beyond time and reached contemporaneity.
It is in this premise that we chose the works Alegria, 2018, and A peste, 1945, as sources to raise striking aspects of the works in a typical setting of contemporary intimate narratives, entering a fictional linguistic game legitimized by credibility.
Furthermore, with regard to our outline, we will defy injunctions of comparison and distancing of these two works, one modern and the other contemporary, encompassing, in this literary space, being alone in the midst of chaos but, at the same time, the relationship with the other as a humanization process.
With a view to the ways in which the enunciative voice is configured and exposed in the literary discourse, a good part of the foundation of the work will be given under the aegis of studies by Adorno (2003), Benjamin (1994), Bakhtin (1990), Auerbach (2002), Watt (1997) among others in order to support the development of the dissertation.
