RESUMO:

Cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of death in Brazil, and their development has been associated with various factors, including climatic elements. Thermal discomfort indices are mathematical equations used to measure an individual's thermal sensation in a specific environment. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze climatic elements and thermal discomfort in relation to cardiovascular diseases in cities of Mato Grosso. Meteorological data were collected from the Agrometeorology Laboratory of the State University of Mato Grosso, while data on deaths and hospitalizations due to cardiovascular diseases were extracted from DATASUS. The period from 2012 to 2022 was considered. The Pearson correlation (r) was used for data analysis. The results show that Alta Floresta has higher temperature and relative humidity compared to Tangará da Serra, and it is perceived as more uncomfortable in relation to the indices. Correlations between meteorological elements and cardiovascular diseases were evident in both cities
