RESUMO:

Information and Communication Technology - ICT has become essential in this globalized era, and its importance in agriculture is recognized worldwide, as it can make the production chain more efficient and contribute to supplying the demand for food. The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between the socioeconomic profile of fruit and vegetable producers with the use and appropriation of Information and Communication Technology - ICT. The data were collected in direct research, through a structured questionnaire, with open and closed questions, and quantitative and qualitative variables. The researched population was 162 producers and 383 consumers of fruits and vegetables in the municipality of Tangará da Serra-MT. As for the socioeconomic profile, 75% are owners, 32% are between 51 and 60 years old, 63% have only elementary education, 58% have a family income of 4 minimum wages or more, and only 51 producers receive technical assistance. Most properties (62%) have an area of up to 10 ha, 95% practice conventional cultivation and 52% generate an average monthly income above R $ 2,000.00. In fruit growing there are 17 varieties and 37 types of vegetables. The most used marketing channels are open markets and direct sale of the property for trade, although 59% use only one channel. As for the use of ICT 98% use the cell phone and 70% access the internet. For the rural business, price research and the purchase of inputs and goods are the main activities. For the consumption profile, 52% of respondents consume fruits and vegetables daily, and 68% spend up to R $ 50.00 per week on these products and the main reason for consumption is the preference for healthy eating. The variables that directly influence the use of ICT are age, education and property income.
