RESUMO:

The planning and management of water quality has been necessary for sustainable development, as the scarcity

of water resources is already a reality even in regions where they are considered abundant. The objective is to

identify the potential for saving drinking water through the use of rainwater, obtained through a collection and

storage system, for use in irrigation of agriculture in the urban region of the municipality of Tangará da Serra - MT.

For this purpose, laboratory analyzes of rainwater quality were carried out, the standard reservoir for its collection

and field research will be carried out, through the application of a questionnaire, in order to collect information on the

demand for drinking water used in urban irrigation. It is hoped that this alternative will be a relevant option for the

irrigation of species grown in the backyard of the buildings and that it will be able to solve part of the problem of

urban scarcity, since its application may represent a significant impact on the total drinking water offered by the

public supply system.
