Biological evolution takes place over time with the selection of attributes that most favor the species, and can be influenced, for example, by the structural characteristics of the habitat. These structures affect local climatic conditions, as well as acoustic signals used by organisms such as anuran amphibians, being essential for communication between groups that carry information about the sender's identity, size, location and sexual status. In this work, we present information on primary type specimens for 1,011 anura amphibian species compiled in the database at the Species of the world amphibian site, Macaulay Library of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, New York; and Fonoteca Neotropical Jacques Vielliard of the State University of Campinas, São Paulo, among others. Where the types were located with their respective acronyms. We describe the temporal and spatial patterns of these cataloged species over a twenty-year period in South America. We obtained the results that most of the type species are deposited in the same country (752 ssp.). Together we evaluated the respective Songs of these species. Our results show that the descriptions of Songs in relation to the types described are at a level of 50% compared to the descriptions of the Species. I.e; 51% species for 48% described corners and 1% of corners described twice. Regarding the representation of holotypes of South American species, we identified that 09 countries outside of South America hold these holotypes, which are in developed countries such as the European continent, Ecuador and Cuba with corners described outside South America. In this work, there are knowledge gaps in relation to the descriptions of advertisement calls, since there are more species destined for traditional collections than species destined for acoustic collections (phonotecas). Since there is no time window between the described species and their respective songs. As for the threat category, the most studied species are precisely those that are not threatened with extinction. One of the main gaps in the area of knowledge is the small amount of corners described in relation to the descriptions of the type series.
