RESUMO:

The study took place in the sub-basins of the rivers on the left bank of the Paraguay River, in Alto Paraguai in the municipalities of Porto Estrela and Cáceres/MT. The research aimed to evaluate the environmental components, land use and occupation, morphometry, hydro-sedimentological behavior and environmental fragility. The work is structured in four chapters. In the first chapter, information was obtained from reports, scientific publications and official websites. For the elaboration of the geology map, the database of the Geological Survey of Brazil was used, scale 1:1,000,000, for the geomorphology, the report of the RADAMBRASIL project, scale 1:1,000,000, the soils the Brazilian System of Soil Classification and the climate by the State Department of Planning scale 1:200,000, and hydroweb precipitation by the National Water Agency. For the slope, the cartographic base of the Digital Elevation Model Geomorphometric Chart, Geomorphometric Database of Brazil: TOPODATA – INPE scale 1:250,000,000, according to the slope classes defined by Embrapa (2006), was used for density using the Arcgis software. Geologically, the formations predominate: Diamantino, Araras and Raizama in the upper reaches, in the middle course the Pantanal Formation - Alluvial Terraces and in the lower course the alluvial deposits. The climatic types are: Sub-humid Megathermal Tropical of the Depressions and Pantanais of Mato Grosso and Tropical of Altitude Hot Mesothermal of the Southern Facade of the Chapadas and Plateaus. It has three geomorphological units: the Mountain Province, occupies the largest area in the basin, the Alto Paraguai Depression has few unevenness and gentle undulations, and the Plains and Pantanais are periodically flooded. The slope in the upper course (8% to 75%), in the Depressão do Alto Paraguai the slope is from 3% to 8% and in the Plains and Pantanais 3%. Pedologically Haplic Cambisols occur, Litholic Neosols are found in the upper courses, Oxisols are concentrated in the east and northeast of the study area, Ultisols in the south southwest, the lower course predominate, Haplic Gleissolos. The drainage density presents low and medium values. The second chapter refers to the process of use and occupation. The study was carried out through research in public documents, scientific work, field and temporal mapping in three periods (1986, 2006 and 2021). Mapping was prepared using Landsat satellite images and the mapBiomas platform. After the indigenous occupation, Portuguese migration took place, based on the Sesmarias policy. Currently, livestock is the most developed activity in the region and is responsible for deforestation and reduction in the amount of water. The third chapter presents general aspects of the basin and hydrosedimentological behavior. Calculations defined the morphometric standards. The fluvial dynamics and sedimentary composition were obtained through research in dissertations, and these data, close to the mouth, were organized and tabulated. The sub-basins are classified between 1st and 4th order, elongated format, low density of rivers and drainage. The relief presents medium slopes and hilly. The highest altimetric altitude is in the Salobra sub-basin (762), the low altimetric amplitude (51) is Olhos D’água. The sediments total 22.12% coarse sand, 253.55% medium and 340.87% fine sand. The concentration of suspended sediments was higher in sections with more intense use of pastures and cattle raising. The fourth chapter is under construction.
Keywords: Watershed. Occupation. Hydrosedimentological. Environmental impacts.
