RESUMO:

The lexicon of a language is constituted as the vocabulary heritage of a linguistic group and is directly related to the cultural factors of this group (BIDERMAN, 2001). As a natural language, the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) presents its lexical universe produced in visual-spatial modality and materialized through signs. This research is part of the scope of Applied Linguistics, specifically, in the line "Studies of Processes of Social Language Practices", of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Linguistics (PPGL), and has as its general objective to record and describe the specific signs of Field Soccer, Futsal and Society in order to contribute to the bilingual education of the deaf. We will take as a basis the studies of Biderman (2001), Antunes (2012), Quadros and Karnopp (2004), Quadros (2019). The research is of the applied type, with a qualitative approach, which uses the autoethnographic method as a basis for the selection, recording and analysis of data. The signs were distributed based on semantic fields: Sports materials, equipment and clothing; sports participants; match actions. A total of 28 signs from the first field, 22 from the second field and 28 from the third semantic field were selected.  The results showed a strong degree of iconicity in the collected signs, which reinforces the characteristic visuality of Libras. We believe that the research will contribute, in addition to the linguistic aspect, to the encouragement of deaf children to enter the world of sports.
