RESUMO:

This thesis is part of the field “Studies of Variation Processes and Change” of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program of the University of the State of Mato Grosso (Unemat). It aims to investigate the theoretical foundations for linguistic variation and methodologies suggested in the proposal of the Portuguese Language books that are parts of the structured collection of books for  the system state educational in Mato Grosso; to analyze the articulation of the skills of variation and heterogeneity linguistics in the exercises of Portuguese Language for the 1st grade of the High School; to evaluate whether the linguistic variation presented in the books analyzed is relationed to the skills descripted in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and in the Curricular Reference Document (DRC-MT) so that the student develops the competence for  “understand the language like a phenomenon (geo)politic, history, cultural, social, variable, heterogeneous and sensitive to the contexts of use, recognizing their variations and living them as ways of identity personality and collective expressions as well as acting in the confronting prejudice of any nature” and contributing with studies in linguistic variation to classroom practices in High School from the reflection as the use of the structured material books in the teaching and learning process. In this sense, the studying is permeated by Educational Sociolinguistics by opportunizing theoretical and methodological contribution to the research and teaching of linguistic variation in classroom practice, especially by suggesting the inclusion of the linguistic variant of students in the prestigious linguistic variation and developing their communicative competence. Therefore, the research is based on studies of Bortoni-Ricardo (2004, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2021, 2022), Bagno (1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), Brasil (2018, 2022), Calvet (2002), Camacho (2003), Coracini & Cyranka (1999, 2016), Faraco (1997, 2007, 2008, 2023), Ilari & Basso (2023), Karim (2004), Labov (2006, 2008), Mato Grosso (1998, 2021, 2023), Weinreich, Labov & Herzog (2006), Ziles & Faraco (2015) and other linguistics. The results point out to the necessity of continuing formation by Portuguese Language teachers in Sociolinguistic, with a view to valuing the linguistic variation that the student already masters to enable the study of their linguistic variations that imply literacies and uses of language in different communicative situations.
