This work, linked to the Concentration Area for the Study of Linguistic Processes, Research Line Studies of Meaning Processes of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Linguistics at the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), seeks to understand the enunciative semantic functioning of words feminicide and femicide in the enunciation space of Brazilian Portuguese. The words feminicide and femicide are currently used in all media, and their use is related to the need to highlight the problem of violence against women. Although these concepts initially have a common and general definition, such as murders committed by men against women because they are women. To this end, there is a singular theme that is not exhausted by its one meaning. The language event perspective is linked to the theoretical methodological contribution of Event Semantics, Guimarães (2002, 2005 and 2018). We took as corpus a set of clippings of historiographic texts collected from digital bibliography. Initially, an analysis of the semantic-enunciative functioning of the words femicide and feminicide was carried out in accordance with Law No. 13,104/2015 of clippings that were taken from three Brazilian websites (Jus, Veja Abril and Enciclopédia Jurídica da PUC-SP), published on online media in the years 2020 and 2021. Secondly, an analysis of the meanings of feminicide in the contemporary Brazilian environment was carried out, excerpts taken from two headlines on the websites, UOL and Metrópoles. Finally, the functioning of the word feminicide in the space of the Brazilian Portuguese language was addressed, taking as an analysis procedure the mobilization and organization of statements arranged in enunciative networks Dias (2016, 2018a, 2018b, 2021), taken as a network of meanings , which can highlight the heterogeneity of historical and social relationships that affect the enunciation of these names in the functioning of Brazilian Portuguese.
