RESUMO:

The present work seeks to analyze, from the perspective of the theory of the Semantics of the Event, the application of hashtags in the communication of the electoral campaigns given in the profiles of voters/supporters in the Twitter application, today named as X. The objective is to analyze semantically the relationship of the #EleSim and its statements,  and to better understand the functioning of these statements on social networks during the 2018 Brazilian electoral campaigns, for the position of President of the Republic. For this, a bibliographic research related to the theme in question was carried out. Thus, we observe the relationship between elections, Twitter application and hashtags, presenting some of the elements of elections in Brazil and the evolution of the media in the Brazilian electoral campaign. We took as an analytical corpus, posting messages extracted from the campaign #EleSim the Twitter application. And five excerpts specifically selected to analyze the relationship of articulation and rewriting that exists between them. To proceed with the analyses, we adhere to the theory of Semantics of the Event, formulated by Eduardo Guimarães (2002-2018). Thus, conclusions are presented regarding the use of hashtags linked to #EleSim statements, the impact of networks, the new opportunities to campaign through Twitter hashtags, and challenges presented by new digital media. This research is part of the research line Studies of the Processes of Signification of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Linguistics of the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT).
