RESUMO:

The present work seeks to analyze, from the perspective of the Event Semantics theory, the application of # in the communication of electoral campaigns delivered on the profiles of voters/supporters on the Twitter application. The objective is to semantically analyze the relationship between the #elesim tag and its statements, and better understand the functioning of these statements on social networks during the 2018 Brazilian election campaigns for the position of president of the republic. To this end, a bibliographical research related to the topic in question was carried out. Thus, we observe the relationship between elections, the Twitter application and hashthag, presenting a little of the history of elections in Brazil and the evolution of media in the Brazilian electoral campaign, showing a profile of the electorate of the 2018 campaign. We will present a brief theoretical trajectory. The analyzes were carried out based on the theoretical constructs of Guimarães (2002-2018). Our corpus is made up of the texts of message posts, extracted from the # Elesim campaign on the Twitter application. We took some specifically selected excerpts to analyze the relationship between them. Conclusions are therefore presented regarding the use of # and their statements, the influences of networks, the new opportunities to campaign for elections through Twitter hashtags, and challenges presented by these new digital media. This research is part of the research line Studies of Meaning Processes of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Linguistics at the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT).
