RESUMO:

The Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) is a visual-spatial language considered the sign language of deaf Brazilians. However, studies of mapping, recording and description of the communicative processes of deaf people from different ethnic groups have shown that this is not the only Sign Language (SL) in Brazil. In this segment, research in indigenous areas arises exploring the form of communication of indigenous deaf people in order to carry out the linguistic registration and deepening. Having raised the hypothesis that the deaf indigenous people of the Cinta Larga ethnic group living in the Aripuanã Indigenous Park (PI) in the territory of Vilhena-Rondônia and Juína-Mato Grosso used "gestures" in the communicative process, this research aimed to identify, record and analyze these "gestures, which we call here as Cinta Larga Signs (SCL). In view of this, the objective of this study was to carry out a descriptive analysis based on aspects of phonology, morphology and syntax, as well as exploratory lexical analyses of some manifestations. Such deepening aims to start the studies for the confirmation of a possible natural language of the deaf Cinta Larga. To achieve the objectives, we used the ethnographic method, going to the field in search of SCL records and sentences in the context of use for analysis. Notes in the field diary, interviews, video recordings and photographs were used to record these data. In view of the conclusion of the field research, but without the conclusion of the analysis, we can affirm so far that the deaf Cinta Larga communicate through the SCL and these evidence a possible sign language. The conclusions will be presented at the end of the analysis of the recorded data, however, we anticipate that we hope that this research will contribute to a better understanding of the communication of the deaf Cinta Larga and to the promotion of studies about SLI in the State of Rondônia.
