This thesis presents an investigation into the phenomena of Brazilian Portuguese related to verbal agreement and the use of the pronoun nós and the variant a gente with the aim of analysing and describing the variation process represented by the alternation of these pronouns in subject position. This work is part of the line of research Study of Processes of Variation and Change, and area of concentration Study of linguistic processes of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Programme in Linguistics at Unemat, campus of Cáceres. As a theoretical contribution, we used Ecolinguistics, which is the study of language interactions within the linguistic ecosystem that can be natural, mental or social (COUTO, 2013a). The corpus of analysis was collected (and provided) by the researcher Dr Joachin Steffen of the Augsburg University, Germany, through interviews with speakers from four remaining quilombola localities in Mato Grosso: Quilombola Communities of Baixio, in the Municipality of Barra do Bugre-MT, Campina de Pedra, Laranjal and Morrinhos, in the Municipality of Poconé-MT.
