RESUMO:

Using Discource Analysis as a guiding theorical support, this research aims to show how women`s empowerment has been working in contemporary society, through their sexual and reproductive freedom, autonomy over their bodies and equality of rights. Thus, in memory processes, an attempt is made to clarify how this image has been constructed since the creation of the world, through the myth of Lilith, in order to know how women are seen and signified by society. In this way, through the feminist movements, in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s, discourse on power relations, discursive and ideological formations, subjection of the subject, effetcs of meanings, resistance, gender inequality, subject position and identify were raised. It is necessary to understand the functioning of the language through the ideological processes that mark the lives of men and women in this journey of empowerment. The word empowerment is an adaptation of the English word empowerment and means “the process of gaining freedom and power to do what you want or control what happens to you” (BERTH, p. 19, 2018), the term has been used substantially distancing itself from the original meaning of the proposed theory (BERTH, p. 20, 2018), some definitions with different theorists will be explained. Considering this theoretical conjuncture, as well as the question of the political, it is certain that meaning is always divided and has its specific direction in history through the ideological mechanisms of its constitution. And the discourse analyst`s task is to understand this relationship through discursive events, that is, taking the discourse as effects of meanings between these speakers. Thus, it is up to the analyst to work with the movements (gestures) of interpretation, this course of the subject (his position), in the historical determination of how the empowerment of women is working. Empowerment is a continuous  process of individual construction and desconstruction that results in social transformations of the community.
