RESUMO:

As a result of the health measures established by health institutions in Brazil, due to the Coronavirus pandemic (2020/21), educational practices had to be (re)organized and adapted, through the institution of Ensino Remoto Emergencial (ERE). This teaching modality arrived at the university and also caused a general shift towards new ways of teaching in the face of the conditions that the reality of the moment imposed. Faced with this expressive change, we question how English language teaching practices took place in the pandemic context within the university. This research aims to investigate and analyze the digital practices of higher education teachers and to what extent digital technologies have been incorporated into the teaching practices of Foreign Language teachers in the Letters course at UNEMAT. The study was supported by the Theory of Complex Dynamical Systems, which provided us with a global view of the dynamic functioning between the parts and the systemic whole of these practices. The methodology used was the Case Study with interviews, on video, with teachers who worked effectively during the pandemic with English classes. They reported their experiences using a questionnaire given orally in a dialogue rhythm. These reports were transcribed and analyzed in the light of the theory of Complex Dynamical Systems (HOLLAND 1995); (LARSEN-FREEMAN 1997, 2008, 2017); (SILVA, 2008) and Paiva (2015, 2016, 2019). These data open assumptions for understanding language(s) and digital spaces as complex dynamic systems that (re)organize and (re)adapt as users interact with each other and observe how, from this phenomenon, the system is being restructured. Due to its qualitative nature, exploratory and descriptive basis, we delimited the analysis of the data collected in the most relevant themes for this research. As much as the experience has been at the same time, with similar conditions (remote) and teaching the same discipline, we can see that the results are heterogeneous, since the experience of each teacher was unique, however, they do not fail to find points of intersection and perceptions. among these teachers in the practices and reflections of these practices. The data showed that teachers had a lot of difficulty adapting at first, due to the prevalence of analogue and face-to-face practices, but with the constant adaptation of these practices to the need, the work was carried out through interactive digital content and with the incorporation of of new tools to work in order to develop the communicative skills of the language.
