This research is the result of the study developed under the theoretical contributions of Labovian Sociolinguistics, whose line of research is linked to the Studies of Processes of Variation and Changes of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Course in Linguistics at Unemat. From our objectives, we discussed the linguistic uses in the lyrics of Cuiabá songs. Considering the varied repertoire of compositions that bring linguistic uses as identity elements in their lyrics, we selected as corpus of analysis, six songs, all with regions characteristics, they are: a) Cuiabana food (Dona Belinha), b) Cuiabana food (Ana Rafaela, Cover), c) Girl, I'll tell you (Vera and Zuleica), d) The cuiabana (oxi) (Vera and Zuleica), e) Rap from Xô Said to Cuiabá (Thyago Mourão), f) Don't let our language die (Thyago Mourão). Respectively, we focus in our analysis, the recurrences of linguistic uses, which in turn, presented as function in the songs, to designate the being Cuiabano through the characteristic “language”. As a result, we verified in the mentioned compositions the recurrence of linguistic uses, that is: “the realization of the affricates ʧ and ʤ”, “the apocope of l and r at the end of words”, “the raising of the central low vowel [a] in ambience nasal”, and “the forms tchô and tchá or xô and xá, we also emphasize, that despite the compositions present other linguistic varieties, we chose to analyze only those described, as these stood out in the compositions. We emphasize, that the immersion of uses in the musics are not the only marks that designate the Cuiabano being, since we can see in these, varied description preponderances of the gastronomic diversity, habits, natives and their experiences, climate, instruments and own rhythms, of lexicons with regional senses and meanings, in short, the six songs are representative and show the specificities of the being Cuiabano from differents angles, contributing to the dissemination, appreciation and preservation of the local identity through music. Labovian Sociolinguistics, was of great importance for the development of this research, as it provided us with the theoretical and methodological support necessary for the development of this study, in this sense, among the available sources, we adopted some relevant studies in for the area, of which we can mention those by Labov (1972), Bright (1974), Fischer-Jonh (1974), Fischmam (1974), Lambert (1975), Tarallo (1997), Calvet (2002), among other researchers.
