RESUMO:

Our work is part of the area of concentration of the Study of Processes of Variation and Change, in the line of research 'Study of Processes of Variation and Change and of Description, Analysis and Documentation of Indigenous Languages', of the Graduate Program in Linguistics at University of the State of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT). The study aims to understand the linguistic variation of the Portuguese language teacher from Cáceres, considering the linguistic uses and normative grammar. The theory that is supported by Sociolinguistic Studies, postulates discussed by William Labov (1969, 1972) from the 1960s onwards. In this sense, the study is also based on José Lemos Monteiro (2000); Fernando Tarallo; (1986); Ana Maria Zilles and Carlos Alberto Faraco (2017). Such studies discuss norms, approaching the variable events in a pedagogical way to field research, in order to try to understand how the extralinguistic works, which can be found in the speech of the Portuguese language teacher from Cacerense, considering the search for the resulting variables in the classroom , in this case, the teacher's vernacular in contrast to normative grammar. Diversity is present when we think of a speaker's mother tongue (in this case the person born in Cáceres), and his profession (the mother tongue teacher), put into direct analysis, considering not only the teacher's interaction with the students, as well as the verbal agreement of this professional in the face of normative grammar. By noticing the linguistic phenomenon, we intend to analyze it consistently with the intention of valuing the linguistic culture of the Portuguese language teacher, with a view to demystifying the linguistic prejudice towards the school community that may exist in this context.
