RESUMO:

This paper aims to analyse the idiomatic expressions adopted by Portuguese speakers in Brazil. We will reflect on the communicative function of language which tends to undergo processes of change and linguistic variations in the course of language use. The approach will be carried out in the light of sociolinguistics, therefore, the analysis will be based on the assumption that the language is easily verifiable, in addition, we will assume a study of these expressions that vary according to social group, identity of speakers, communicative situation and regionality, we can also verify variations conditioned by the social group to which it belongs, by age, gender identity, among others.
