RESUMO:

This research is the result of work done as a teacher, while working in the annex classrooms of the State School of Conquista d'Oeste - MT, on the borders of the Sararé Indigenous Land, Katitãurlhu people. The corpus of the analysis of this paper was collected in the year 2019, together with the students, community members and teachers. The main objective is to present a description of the nominal classifier derivational suffixes in the corpus, consisting of the lexicon, referring to the human body, animals, and plants of the language of the Nambikwara Katitãurlhu people. The Katitãurlhu people live near the municipalities of Pontes e Lacerda, Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, Nova Lacerda, and Conquista d Oeste, in the region of the Sararé river valley and the Galera river. The Katitãurlhu population has been growing since the last demographic census, and is estimated to number over 200 people, with the majority of the population speaking their mother tongue and Portuguese being their second language. The language of the Nambikwara is divided into two dialectal complexes and one more distinct language; these are the Southern Nambikuara, the Northern Nambikuara, and Sabanê. The Katitãurlhu belong to the Southern dialectal group. The literature shows that it is a tonal language, polysynthetic in character, with well-defined characteristics, such as the affixes that join the name to give it inherent characteristics. When it comes to possession, this marking comes prefixed, while the other affixes, of derivational or flexional marking, are suffixed. Menno and Barbara Kroeker, members of the International Linguistic Society (SIL), developed a descriptive work from the morphosyntactic point of view, entitled A Descriptive Grammar of Nambikuara (2001). From this work it was possible to make the first observations about nominal classifiers. Besides it, the research presents the nominal classifier system, based on the enormous contributions of the works by o Mamaindê (EBERHARD 2007), o Sabanê (ARAÚJO 2004), o Latundê (TELLES 2002), Kithãulhu (KROEKER 2003), Borella (2000), who analyzed precisely some aspects of the Katitãurlhu language; the recent work by SILVA (2021) on Nambikuara do Campo/Sul that greatly contributes to expand on the previous contributions of Kroeker and Costa (2018) with their work on possession marking in Latundê and, finally, Belo (2013) with an overview of Amazonian languages and the recently published thesis on the Hahãintesu language.
