This thesis is part of the research line “Study of Variation and Change Processes” of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Linguistics at the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), which aims to analyze the effects of linguistic contact between the Spanish and Portuguese languages on the Brazil/Bolivia border about the lexicon of residents of San Matias and Cáceres cities. Thus, we sought through Contact Sociolinguistics (SAVEDRA, 2021; LABOV, 1972), Pluridimensional and Relational Dialectology (THUN, 1998) and other areas of knowledge to relate spatial characteristics with social variables to demonstrate lexical variation in space border searched. The area covered by the research included 04 survey points for comparative purposes, namely: point 01 (urban area of San Matias), point 02 (San Juan de Corralito), point 03 (Corixa) point 04 (urban zone of Cáceres). The methodology used was based on the theoretical-methodological principles of Pluridimensional Geolinguistics (THUN, 1998), which made it possible to highlight the lexical variability in the border space and the conditioning elements. For the interviews, two questionnaires were used: the Informant Form with questions about linguistic attitudes and the Semantic-Lexical Questionnaire (QSL) based on the model of the Linguistic Atlas Project of Brazil (ALiB). In all, 24 (twenty-four) informants were interviewed, including Brazilians and Bolivians, considering the diatopic, diastratic, diageneric and diagenerational dimensions. The production of analyzes occurred from the treatment of data in the SGVCLIN software (ROMANO et al, 2014), correlating quantitative and qualitative aspects for each linguistic letter. The results obtained point to the cultural, social, economic, political and linguistic influence of Brazil on the border, reaching the urban and rural area of San Matias.
