RESUMO:

This research is inscribed in the concentration area of "Linguistic Processes Study", in the research line "Meaning Processes Study", of the Graduate Program in Linguistics Stricto Sensu - PPGL of the State University of Mato Grosso - UNEMAT. The objective of this work is to analyze the construction of the  eanings of the word political(o) in the enunciation of the pronouncements of the former presidents of Brazil, Fernando Collor de Melo, Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which occurred at the end of the 20th century and beginning of the 21st century, seeking to understand how the ways of speaking of the country's leaders, produced in the exercise of power, are politically constituted, considering the party affiliations of each elected president and the historical and social conditions that constitute them. This thesis is theoretically based on the Semantics of the Event developed by Guimarães (1995, 2002, 2007, 2011, 2018) in Brazil, which defines it as an enunciative, historical and social semantics, and which takes the term political as a misunderstanding, by considering that saying works through a contradiction of a normativity that, through equality, unequally divides the real. (GUIMARÃES, 2018). We also analyze the DSD, Semantic Domain of Determination, of the political word, a procedure by which we arrive at the designation of a word in a text, or in a set of texts. We will proceed with the analysis of selected excerpts from the texts that make up the corpus of this research and that were selected by the survey process, a procedure that allows us to verify the functioning of political expression in the statements that make up these texts. We seek, therefore, to understand the polysemy of the word politics and also to verify how these meanings produced by the saying of the social place of the Presidency of the Republic, in the Brazilian enunciation space, contribute to the constitution of a way of saying and in politics in the Brazil, or rather, as the enunciations of former presidents, a political saying and in politics, contributed and contribute to the constitution of a political language in Brazil.
