RESUMO:

This work is part of the research line Studies of Discursive Processes and aims to describe and analyze the discursive functioning of metaphor and metonymy in statements about the woman configured from imaginary laughable formulations. The selected formulations circulated on truck bumpers, displayed in bars and restaurants by the side of roads, vehicles and manual workers' transports, the internet and others, presenting themselves as funny sayings, because, imaginatively, they provoked laughter. We selected the following discursive clippings for the analysis: “Woman equals a badly beaten penalty: one kicks, the other catches”. “Woman is like pasta; we roll, roll and eat." (sic). “Woman is like a truck only works with a man on top”. “Woman is like a CD, because of a good part, we have to keep the rest”. “Woman is like mosquitoes. It just settles down with a slap”. “Woman is like wine: It has to been kept in horizontal, in the dark and with a stopper in their mouths”. “Cousin is like cold pizza: they say it's bad, but we still eat it”. “Green wood and old woman cry, but they burn”. (sic). “Single yes, alone never”. Translation: “Everyone eats me, but no one assumes me”. “A woman's past and a restaurant kitchen, who knows, doesn't eat”. “The woman and the cherry: for her own harm she dresses herself up” (sic). “The woman and the mule, the dick cures them”. (sic). We mobilize the notions of production conditions, discursive memory, meaning effects, metaphor and metonymy, pre-constructed as some concepts of theoretical-analytical input. The analysis allowed us to understand that the statements, when placed in relation to other sayings about the woman in/of history, show the strength of the pre-constructed in the metaphorical constitution produced, that is, there is something of an already-saying that persists in this process for that there is transference, sliding of senses. In the tension between laughable formulations and the repetition of meanings of violence, the metaphoric-metonymic effects produced give visibility to pejorative and misogynistic meanings about women, especially in relation to sexuality, thus showing the constitution of a discourse of sexual objectification for the woman, under the grace that, imaginatively, it seems to be produced in these statements.
