THE SYRIA CRISIS: THE SYRIA REFUGEE DESIGNATION PROCESS AT THE UNHCR PORTAL

Syrian Refugee, Designation, Semantics of the Event, DSD and Sense.

This work, registered in the area of concentration “Studies of linguistic processes” and the research line “Studies of Significance Processes”, of the Stricto Sensu graduate program in Linguistics at the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), aims to to present an enunciative semantic study of the designative relationships of the Nominal Refugee Syrian Formation, in a corpus consisting of texts (headlines / news) published on the UNHCR website ─ United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, (www.acnur.org), responsible for developing official activities to protect the global phenomenon “refugee crisis”. We will make our analyzes from a theoretical-methodological basis that takes into account the enunciative studies, in a more specific way, in the works developed by Eduardo Guimarães (1987, 2002, 2018). In this sense, this thesis work investigates the meanings of the Syrian Refugee in the headlines of the UNHCR website, considered as “a crucial issue” in the analysis, because “the meaning is produced in the enunciation taken as a language event” ( GUIMARÃES, 2012, p. 19). Based on this principle, with the realization of this research, we observe that the nominal formation Syrian refugee is rewritten by other nominal formations such as Syrian refugee woman, Syrian refugee child, Syrian family that are determined by an enunciative history that constitutes the Syrian refugee subject from a specific memorable in each statement.
