RESUMO:

The present research aims to analyze how the term “skin-colored” pencil is constituted in children's imagination in an Early Childhood Education Center in the city of Araputanga-MT, 12 considering its various forms of reproduction of whitening in the educational space. With specific objectives, understanding the scope of teaching about ethnic-racial diversity in the CEI considering the LDB amended by Law 10,639/03, in addition to investigating whether the CEI environment offers a welcome to ethnic-racial diversity, and problematizing the colors used by children in skin coloring in illustrations of people or characters in CEI. We assume that children learn about the term “skin-colored” pencil before entering preschool and that this term is assimilated in the daycare space through educational practices. Thus, for the development of this study, a qualitative methodology was adopted, with a field research procedure, using data collection techniques as participant observation in a room with very young children, aged between three years and three. years and eleven months, a total of eleven children, in addition to an individualized and face-to-face semi-structured interview with the institution's teaching staff, totaling nine subjects and the field diary was used to support data collection. Regarding the organization, treatment, analysis and interpretation of the collected data, we adopted the content analysis technique of Laurence Bardin (2011) which, through a set of resources, gives us support to analyze the data. The work highlights the negative impacts that whitening patterns in their various representations cause in the construction of the identity and self-esteem of black children, addressing themes about the black population in Brazilian society, the child and its advances as a subject of rights and the access to early childhood education in Brazil, regarding ethnic-racial diversity in early childhood education, specificities of whitening in the educational space, the colors that constitute racism, Law 10,639/2003, the National Curriculum Guidelines for the Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations and for teaching Afro-Brazilian and African history and culture, antiracist education in early childhood, among others. From the initial analysis of the research, it is possible to state that very young children aged between 3 and 4 years already have an awareness of their skin tones, in addition to being able to make comparisons and differentiations regarding their skin color. skin. Therefore, as theoretical and conceptual support we sought authors who dialogue with the aforementioned theme, among which we can mention: Abramowicz and Oliveira (2012); Albuquerque and Filho (2006); Bento (2012, 2014); Cavalleiro (1998, 2001, 2003, 2021); Hofbauer (2006); Kuhlmann Jr. (2000, 2010); Martins (2017); Munanga (2004, 2020); Nascimento (1983, 2016); Rosemberg (2012); Santiago (2014); Trinidad (2012).
