People with disabilities still face numerous barriers to social, personal and educational development. In this context, despite advances, significant challenges to inclusion policies in the school environment have still been observed. In school Physical Education classes, including students in wheelchairs and providing adapted activities and sports has been a challenge, whether in relation to the available structure or pedagogical practice. Based on this set of circumstances, the research was carried out: “People who use wheelchairs in Physical Education classes”, linked to the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program, Masters in Education (PPGEdu), Research line: Training of Teachers, Policies and Pedagogical Practices at UNEMAT, Cáceres/MT campus. The objective was to identify the challenges and implications of the participation of students in wheelchairs in Physical Education classes in regular schools in a municipality in Mato Grosso. To this end, a qualitative methodological approach of a descriptive and exploratory nature was used, through the ecological insertion method with the purpose of reporting the experiences of students in the school environment. The instruments for field research were made through audiovisual and written records, interviews, in addition to the application of semi-structured questionnaires with open and closed questions for students using wheelchairs, managers and teachers at the schools researched. To analyze the interviews, the narratives were organized into categories, based on the methodological guidelines of content analysis. The study subjects are: students (n=4) wheelchair users, from primary and secondary education, male (n=2) and female (n=2), between 13 and 17 years old; teachers (n=3), male (n=2) and female (n=1); managers (n=3), male (n=2) and female (n=1). At the school (main microsystem) we observe a commitment to inclusion, in the form of service, interaction and welcoming of other students. Inclusion and effective participation in classes, self-confidence in carrying out activities when they are proposed, accessibility on the route to the court, better knowledge of teachers in relation to activities and the lack of adapted activities, are some of the main challenges perceived by students in chairs. on wheels at school. As for teachers, the difficulties observed are related to the lack of adequate and/or adapted materials, knowledge about the students' disabilities in their classes, difficulties in adapting activities, time for research and preparation of adapted activities, accessibility and organizational conditions, safety in carrying out activities with the student when they are out of the wheelchair. For managers, the difficulties listed refer to the lack of preparation of teachers in the face of the multiple deficiencies existing in the school unit, as there is no specific training for each of them, that is, the lack of training for teachers, accessibility in some school locations, the absence of adapted activities, classrooms with a high number of students and the need for an educational caregiver at the beginning of the school year. In this context, it involves evaluating the consequences of not participating in Physical Education classes and ensuring equal experiences and learning conditions for people with disabilities in a wheelchair. Inclusion is a right and, therefore, everyone’s responsibility.
