RESUMO:

This research “Incidence of the private sector on the financing of municipal public education in Rondonópolis-MT, from 2017 to 2021”, developed in the Graduate Program in Education – PPGEDu/UNEMAT, is linked to the research project “Privatization and commodification of basic education in the municipalities of Mato Grosso during the pandemic, between 2020 and 2021”, aims to analyze the financing of municipal public basic education in Rondonópolis, state of Mato Grosso, between the years 2017 and 2021, with the main focus spending of education resources on the private sector. Using a quali-quantitative approach, the research was based on document analysis, reports available on official websites, such as the Court of Auditors of the State of Mato Grosso, the Information System on Public Budgets in Education (SIOPE) and the transparency portal from the Rondonopolis City Hall. The research made it possible to identify the main contracts between the City Hall and legal entities, with and without lucrative purposes, involved with the different dimensions of the privatization of education: offer, management and curriculum, in addition to making it possible to map the services outsourced by the public power; Resources spent on Teaching Maintenance and Development with the provision of services by the private sector were also detected. In this way, it is evident that activities formerly carried out by the municipal sphere began to compose a portfolio of services that can be offered by the private sector and, at the same time, can have two purposes: the search for profit through the transfer of responsibility from the state to the private initiative and the implementation of a disfigured/fragmented model of education, emptied of democratic content and humanistic training, thus denying a broader training for the exercise of citizenship and proud participation in the world of work.
