TABLES IN THE PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE OF TEACHERS WHO TEACH MATHEMATICS IN THE EARLY YEARS

In the present research, we aimed to investigate the pedagogical practices of teachers who teach mathematics from the 2nd to the 5th year of elementary school in relation to the use of the multiplication table in the processes of teaching and learning mathematics. Considering that the teaching of mathematics needs to go through reflections and transformations in the context of the teaching practice of teachers who work in the early years of elementary education in schools, we constitute the guiding question of the research: What are the pedagogical practices of teachers who teach Mathematics in the 2nd to the 5th year of Elementary School in relation to the use of the tables in Mathematics classes? Methodologically, we used qualitative research in the Research-Training modality to describe, analyze and interpret the responses of teachers participating in an online extension course carried out by the Study and Research Group on Mathematics Education in Schools - GEPEME/UNEMAT in May 2023 with a workload of 60 hours. To collect data, we used two online questionnaires, with Questionnaire 1 available at: https://forms.gle/HB1tooe3o1S7ALyX9 answered by 128 participating teachers, and Questionnaire 2 available at: https://forms.gle/D8wu3vnbtkq3Wex79 answered by 106 participating teachers. Teachers who teach Mathematics from 15 Brazilian states participated in the Extension Course. To analyze the data, we resorted to Content Analysis from the perspective of Bardin (1977) and Rodrigues (2019), which will provide us with the configuration of Analysis Categories, through which we performed our interpretation through a dialogical movement – interlocution of data with the concepts guided by the theoretical contributions of the research. We emphasize that the finalization of the interpretation of the Analysis Categories and the final considerations will be explained in the body of this dissertation, after the Qualification Exam.
