RESUMO:

The present research is inserted in the context of academic productions involving Mathematical Modeling. More specifically, we aim to investigate the academic production of dissertations and theses related to Mathematical Modeling in the early years of Elementary School and Early Childhood Education, defended in stricto sensu graduate programs in Brazil, from 2010 to 2021. Therefore, the question research guide is: what do academic research (dissertations and theses) reveal involving Mathematical Modeling in the early years of Elementary School and Early Childhood Education developed in Brazil from 2000 to 2021? Aiming to outline understandings about the objective, we carried out a bibliographic research with a qualitative approach, based on (FIORENTINI; LORENZATO, 2006) and on the modality of a meta-analysis (BICUDO, 2014). As data production procedures to constitute the research corpus, we used the consultation of dissertations and theses in the following databases: Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD); ii) Catalog of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). To analyze the data, we will use Content Analysis from the perspective of Bardin (1977) and Rodrigues (2019), which provided us with the constitution of four Analysis Categories: 1. Mathematical Modeling in Early Childhood Education; 2. Mathematical Modeling in Teacher Training Processes; 3. Mathematical Modeling in the Initial Years of Elementary School; 4. Mathematical Modeling in Documentary or Bibliographic Research through which we will interpret through a dialogical movement – interlocution of data with the concepts guided by the theoretical contributions of the research – to provide us with understanding of the investigated object. From the dissertations and theses mapped, we present some aspects - (i) Theoretical frameworks of Mathematical Modeling; (ii) Methodological procedures for research involving Mathematical Modeling; (iii) Research objectives involving Mathematical Modeling; (iv) Notions and Mathematical Content covered in the Themes of Mathematical Modeling Activities; (v) Guiding question and the results achieved by research involving Mathematical Modeling - which are recurrent in terms of research involving Mathematical Modeling in each category of Analysis. From the survey and analyzes carried out, we observed a growth in research about Mathematical Modeling in Early Childhood Education and Early Years of Elementary School, in addition to identifying theoretical and methodological approaches between the analyzed works to highlight the reflections, perceptions and actions of students and teachers during the Mathematical Modeling process, as well as if the activities with Mathematical Modeling have presented relevant contributions to the teaching of Mathematics in Early Childhood Education and Early Years (1st and 5th) of Elementary School.
