RESUMO:

The present dissertation with the title: The Dynamics of the Meeting of Indigenous Families in the Urban Spaces of Matupá/MT and the School as a Multicultural Place aims to constitute a study on different aspects of the dynamics of the cultural encounter, from the perspective of indigenous families who migrated. to the city, focusing on the processes of adaptation to urban life and that of their children at school. With this, we seek to describe the reasons that led indigenous families to migrate to the city and understand the indigenous view of how non-indigenous inhabitants welcome them and the characteristics of the relationships established until then. In this way, we observe the way of life of indigenous families in the city and, thus, we understand the relationships between the different subjects of the school community, from the point of view of the indigenous student. And so we research their school development in the classroom and in the family environment. Therefore, this research was relevant to public policies for indigenous people in urban areas, and it is necessary to consider both areas: the city and the land of origin.
