RESUMO:

Computational thinking has been increasingly discussed in the educational environments of many countries, from early childhood education to higher education. With the approval of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), in 2017, the first official document dealing with the theme, studies have emerged on how to develop the skills and competences related to computational thinking. In this context, a qualitative research was carried out with the objective of analyzing the advantages and disadvantages, pointed out (evaluated) by mathematics teachers from Tangará da Serra-MT, of the use of Scratch software for the teaching of mathematics and the development of computational thinking in basic education. 14 teachers who work in elementary and high school participated in the study. The production of data, for analysis of this research, took place through a training course with a total workload of 80 hours. Problem Based Learning (PBL) was used as the course methodology. For the analysis of the data, the Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA) was used, which allows the researcher to move between the data produced. The research corpus consists of: reports prepared by course participants throughout the course; open and closed questionnaires, applied before the beginning of the course, and; semi-structured interviews, carried out at the end of the course. The theoretical foundation was based on texts on the relations of mathematics and computational thinking with the use of the Scratch software. The preliminary results reveal that the use of Scratch, for the teaching of mathematics and the development of computational thinking, is fruitful, from the perspective of the mathematics teachers participating in the research.
