RESUMO:

This dissertation consists of a research developed with deaf students from the state, municipal and federal schools of Campo Novo do Parecis, in the State of Mato Grosso, with the participation of 10 students, 4 parents and 3 interpreters, being these students from grades many different. We had as a general objective to verify how the student understands the teaching of formal mathematics and how it is inserted in their school environment, and if they perceive this mathematics in their social and cultural context. Therefore, the need to work on the mathematical content in their mother tongue, developing visual activities, to awaken their curiosity in the students, stimulating their ability to solve problems of logical reasoning and their cognitive aspects. Our research problem is outlined by the understanding of mathematical concepts and the difficulty of including deaf students in the school environment. From this problem, we realized the need to investigate, analyze and understand how the mathematical concepts that were inserted in their school environment are being understood and correlated with the mathematical experiences in their social and cultural context. The research methodology is of a qualitative nature based on STAKE (2011) and MIGLIOLI (2006), using narratives and interviews with LUDKE and ANDRÉ (1986) and GIL (2016) as an instrument of data production, approaching Oral History. As a theoretical contribution, it was mainly based on D’AMBRÓSIO (2017) and MANTOAN (2003) who work on the importance of including minority groups, their identity and their knowledge and practices, an essential point of this dissertation. As part of the outcome, the importance of contextualizing the teaching of mathematics and the use of their mother tongue was presented as factors that influence this understanding of concepts, which contributes to the search for the success of students' educational lives, providing a more meaningful and practical, as well as pleasurable.
