RESUMO:

Brazil's biodiversity is recognized globally, due to its vast territorial area and environmental diversity that are home to six different biomes. However, the degradation of habitats and threats to species, especially by human activities, have led to growing concerns. The impact of the loss of wild species is unequivocal, as each of them plays a crucial role in fundamental ecological interactions. In Brazil, legal instruments were established for the protection of wild fauna and environmental agencies were created with the mission of applying and promoting this protection. However, the delivery, rescue and seizure of wild animals is still on the rise. Facing such a scenario requires the formulation of conservation strategies supported by in-depth knowledge and continuous monitoring. In this sense, the state of Mato Grosso, part of the Legal Amazon, faces considerable challenges due to the expansion of degrading activities. Given this context, this research proposes to explore the dynamics of rescue, apprehension and disposal of wild fauna in recent years, particularly birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals, in Mato Grosso. Using data provided by the state Secretary of the Environment, we seek to inform environmental management strategies, influence the formulation of public policies and encourage the dissemination of knowledge, all with the aim of actively contributing to safeguarding biodiversity.
